Who is VK Branding?
I started my career at 19 as a receptionist for a popular online beauty media platform. At the time, it was Australia's biggest beauty destination.
Let me paint the picture - fresh flowers in the reception area every week, delicious-smelling candles burning through the office and a team full of young and eager beauty enthusiasts, including myself.
Brand Managers from L'oreal and Chanel visited us weekly; we ran monthly consumer-friendly events and played with many skincare and beauty products. I had the BEST job in the world, not to mention the best mentors. I was the first person clients saw, and I made sure to create a lasting impression - I have people ten years on remember me as the receptionist with a perfectly smelling and organised space. Even the courier drivers would ask where I was if someone else was the one to greet them! I was and am all about creating authentic relationships.
Before this time, I interned at then called, Bauer Media, the owner of famous beauty and lifestyle magazines Cleo, Cosmopolitan, and SHOP! Till you drop & more.
During my internship, packing beauty products and cleaning the fashion closet, I told myself I would work here someday.
Fast forward to 2015, Bauer Media buys the Australian Beautyheaven group, and I suddenly find myself at the infamous 54 park street.
My career was made up of presentations, client meetings, exciting launch events and trialling the best beauty products. This, amongst so many other things, made me realise I had the best job in the world. I loved the digital component of was I was doing; I loved helping Australian business owners and brand managers distinguish their magic in a crowded space and create compelling and innovative campaigns. It was my thing.
From here, I worked at media platforms such as Mamamia and Chanel 7, and it wasn't long after I decided it was time for me to take a risk and do something for myself, which is exactly what I did, and it paid off.
